Laatste bericht vanuit Schotland

Door de drukte voor mijn studie heb ik dit blog helaas een beetje verwaarloosd en ben ik al aangekomen bij mijn laatste week in Schotland. De tijd is gewoon voorbij gevlogen door zowel studie, bezoek en Schotse gezelligheid.

In het kort sinds mijn laatste update heb ik: essays ingeleverd, eerst de musketiers en vervolgens Anne op bezoek gehad, hier en daar wat verjaardagspartijtjes (zonder koekhappen) gehad en nog wat whisky society meetings en vandaag om half 6 mijn laatste toets gemaakt. De toetsen gingen naar mijn gevoel allemaal vrij goed, dus nu maar hopen dat ik geen herkansingen hoef te maken in augustus, wat zou betekenen dat ik in de drukte van het Edinburgh festival een toets zou moeten gaan maken. Ik kom hier liever over een paar jaar in augustus nog eens terug om het festival zonder herkansingen mee te maken;-). Voor een sfeerimpressie van de afgelopen maanden zie de foto's.

Morgen arriveert mijn moeder met de auto en gaan we een week toeren door Schotland (voor de Schotland-kenners of mensen die zich vervelen en met google aan de slag willen: van Edinburgh naar Stirling, dan Mull, Ardnamurchan, Skye, terug naar het zuiden via Glencoe en St. Andrews en zaterdag zijn we terug in Nederland ). Tijdens die trip gaan er natuurlijk nog heel wat foto's gemaakt worden en die gaan ook zeker op deze site komen, maar tegen die tijd ben ik al terug in Nederland! Ik heb het hier super naar mijn zin gehad, maar nu het hier op zijn eind loopt, kijk ik er gewoon ontzettend naar uit om terug te komen, niet langer via msn met Anne te hoeven praten, maar daadwerkelijk samen zijn. En eindelijk weer eens van een ouderwets Limburgs pilsje genieten met de maten en niet die Britse chemische rotzooi, alhoewel ik natuurlijk wel nog een goeie single malt whisky mee wil smokkelen!

Then, as for Salisbury crags, they are most beautiful to be seen,
Especially in the month of June, when the grass is green;
There numerous mole-hills can be seen,
And the busy little creatures howking away,
Searching for worms amongst the clay;
And as the tourist's eye does wander to and fro
From the south side of Salisbury crags below,
His bosom with admiration feels all aglow
As he views the beautiful scenery in the valley below;
And if, with an observant eye, the little loch beneath he scans,
He can see the wild ducks swimming about and beautiful white swans.
Then, as for Arthur's seat, I'm sure it is a treat
Most worthy to be seen, with its rugged rocks and pastures green,
And the sheep browsing on its sides
To and fro, with slow-paced. strides,
And the little lambkins at play
During the livelong summer-day.
Beautiful city of Edinburgh! the truth to express,
Your beauties are matchless I must confess,
And which no one dare gainsay,
But that you are the, grandest city in Scotland at the present day!
